Courtney Gundrum, PsyD, LPCC
I truly believe that authenticity and the therapeutic relationship are invaluable. I believe that therapy will not work if there is not a strong therapeutic alliance. I am often described as being a laid-back, compassionate clinician who values humor in session. However, I am not afraid to challenge you and be direct. I view each individual uniquely and therefore I do not believe in one set way of therapy. I mainly practice from trauma-informed, person-centered, relational and CBT approaches. I value meeting people where they are at and learning about your strengths to help them in session. I tend to be more relational in nature and I truly enjoy getting to know about all aspects of her clients’ lives.
I enjoy working with adults (18+) who may be struggling with concerns related to:
I am competent in working with individuals who have experienced addiction, as well as their families who have been impacted by this. I am familiar and comfortable working with client’s who are prescribed medication-assisted treatments (e.g., Suboxone, Sublocade, Ketamine, etc.), as well as clients who have contracts with the Minnesota HPSP program. I am committed to learning more about first responder culture and enjoy working with these individuals. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat trauma, however only utilize this for in-person sessions. I try to view my clients’ presenting issues from a trauma-informed lens.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my partner, three sons, and three dogs (you read that right…we have a full house)! Additionally, I like spending time with my friends and being outdoors. I love playing co-ed softball in the summer. When I’m not busy, you can find me watching reruns of my favorite TV show, Friends. I look forward to the opportunity of working alongside you on your journey!

Scheduling: Mon-Th 8:00am-2:30pm
I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental atmosphere for clients to explore their relationships, values, strengths, and changes they want to make. I strongly believe that everyone is capable of persevering through life's challenges and making positive change, if given the proper tools, skills, resources and support. I tailor my approach to match the unique needs of each individual. I am a strong advocate of empowering clients through education about the brain and mental health, to help them take control of their own lives. I focus on tapping into and building upon underlying resilience I believe all clients have. I am a direct communicator but have a casual approach and appreciate (dark) humor in sessions.
I am experienced in treating adults (18+) experiencing:
I am licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin and practice from DBT, CBT, ACT, person-centered, and trauma-informed approaches. I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to treat traumatic experiences through bilateral eye movements.
I am competent with the culture of public safety work and have a passion for working with those that help their community including physicians, nurses, law enforcement, firefighters, dispatchers, correctional officers and EMTs. I contract with first responder specific EAPs as well as with individual first responder departments to provide mental health focused training and support. I am also a board approved supervisor for BBHT for LPC/LPCC.
When I am not working, you can find me baking, exercising, spending time with my partner and two children, reading fantasy and psychological thrillers (surprise!), and binge-watching the latest Netflix show.
